Subject: Captain Larry Strain
ITCS Memo # 1303

It is with great personal deep felt sorrow that I report the untimely death of Captain Larry Strain. Larry age 47 was marine superintendent for American Commercial Barge Lines and was primarily responsible for their lower river boats.

He was pronounced dead early yesterday evening. The cause of death was an apparent massive heart attach. He was a single parent raising two teenage boys.

Larry was a personal friend of mine with whom I rode many days with on towboats during the early years of our careers. He was very active in RIAC and LOMRC. As Chairman of LOMRC, he was the key instrumental figure in creating the recently developed Crises Action Plan for the lower river at Baton Rouge.

More information will be provided as soon as funeral arrangements are made.
