Subject: Commencement of Work - Vaucluse Bend (vicinity mile 533 Lower Mississippi River)
ITCS Memo # 1761

Provided by James Ross
US Army Corps of Engineers- Vicksburg District

The closure at Vaucluse will begin on 11 June 2001. The contractor, Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel, will start construction of the weirs on that date.

Navigation will be closed from Mile 531.3, Greenville Bridge, to Mile 537.0,Warfield Point. The closures will be from 0600 to 1800 for each day that the contractor is working. For those days that the contractor is not working, navigation will not be restricted.

The estimated length of the contract is 83 working days. The government will supply the M/V Patrick to be on site to furnish closure information and passing instructions. The Patrick can be contacted on channel 13 or 16 VHF.

There is a good possibility that there will be times when the contractor is unable to work. Concerning these times, we have asked that he (contractor) give us as much advanced notice as possible so that we can inform the Coast Guard and the towing industry to any change in the navigation status. If you have any questions, my number is 601-631-5179.

Thanks,
James Ross
