ITCS Memo # 1777

Status report UM mile 312.5 (Turtle Island) and UM mile 306.9 (Cave Hollow). The ACOE has a survey boat and two mechanical dredges on site. First step will be to buoy pilot channels at both locations. This should be completed by 1300 hrs today. When this is completed, N/B test tows will follow the survey boat through the pilot channel at 312.5. If all goes well, the river will be open for traffic while dredging operations are underway. The dredge Thompson is enroute and should arrive late Thursday night or early Friday morning to begin dredging at mile 312.5.

ACOE St. Paul District reports a boat on ground at UM mile 714 (below Lock 6). A survey boat is enroute to this location and will survey this location after all barges have been removed from the channel. The USCG will close this section of river until the survey is completed and the situation can be defined.
