Subject: Tow Size Recommendation- Lower Mississippi River- Cairo to Baton Rouge

LOMRC, in conjunction with the US Coast Guard/ MSO Memphis, MSD Baton Rouge and Group Lower makes the following recommendation:

When the Memphis Gauge reaches -4, it is recommended that downbound tows not exceed 36 barges while navigating on the Lower Mississippi River between Cairo and Baton Rouge.

Additionally, if forecasts indicate that the Mississippi River is going to continue to fall past -4 on the Memphis Gauge, a LOMRC teleconference involving Industry, the Corps of Engineers and US Coast Guard will be initiated to determine what further action may be appropriate.
