Subject: Locks #52 Draft Restrictions
ITCS Memo # 2552

Draft restrictions have been put into effect for the 1200' chamber at Lock 52 due to minimal clearances over the lower miter sill. The draft restrictions and other conditions regarding lockage in both the 1200' and 600' chambers are contained in a Notice to Navigation Interests issued by the Louisville District, ACOE on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

The Nav Notice may be viewed at: http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/optm/article.asp?id=329

Tows exceeding the draft restrictions may be allowed to double lock through the 600' chamber with the use of a helper boat, at the discretion of the Lockmaster. The helper boat must pull the first cut away from the lock approaches. No tows will be allowed to make up on the lock wall.
