ITCS Memo # 2564

Lock personnel will start raising the dam at L/D 53 today at 0830 EDT. It will take approximately twelve hours to raise the dam and begin locking. During the raising of the dam the river will be closed to traffic at L/D 53.
Once the dam is up locking downbound will be through the 1,200' chamber only due to the gap in the 600' chamber approach wall. Upbound traffic can pass through both the 600' and 1,200' chambers.
We will send out another email when the dam is up and the river reopens.
