SPECIAL NOTICE TO NAVIGATION INTERESTS

Melvin Price Locks and Dam, Main Lock, Upper Mississippi River Mile 200.8

1. All navigation interests are advised that effective immediately, 13
January 2008, until further notice, the St. Louis District is advising all southbound commercial traffic to stay off the guidewall above the 400' mark.
Northbound commercial traffic is also advised to stay off the subject guidewall. Tow lengths are not restricted at these Locks.

2. At the 400' mark on the Upper Guidewall, Missouri side, corner
embedded metals are damaged and protruding an unknown distance into the water above and below the waterline. Divers will be onsite 14 January 2008 to assess damage below the waterline and additional information based on the inspection results will follow. All navigation interests should be alert for, and abide by, any special instructions that may be issued by the Lockmaster in conjunction with this situation.

3. All tows are cautioned to be alert for changing conditions and
possible hazards due to ice formations. Severe navigation problems can always be expected throughout the ice-forming season.
