Subject: Lock #25 Out of Commission as of 1900 Today
ITCS Memo # 2641

Mr. Andy Schimpf from the St. Louis COE reports that Lock #25 is out of commission due to a failure between the lower gate mechanism and wall anchorage. The embedded anchor system was discovered to have serious cracks. The on scene engineers concluded that further use of the gate would posed a high risk of failure and further damage. The repair work to the embedded anchor will run concurrently with the repair to the gate pins discovered yesterday. At this time the Corps does not expect the closer to be any longer than the initial 8 days estimated for the repair to the gate pins. There will be a RIAC conference call Thursday March 27th at 1400 so the Corps can bring us up to date on the estimated time of completion. The Call in information will be the same as it was today.
