Subject: Lock 25 Closure Update - 30 March

Ed,

Update on progress at Lock 25.

The heavy rains last night and this morning slowed progress. At this point we still plan to re-open the lock Monday evening. Today the crew completed fabrication of the new secondary anchorage pin. The day shift will work over to complete assembly of the secondary gate anchorage which had to be sent to the Service Base last night to be turned. It will be shipped back to the site tonight. The night shift will complete the boring of the embedded anchorage c-channel, and the top and bottom doubler plates. Tomorrow the team will install secondary anchorage into gudgeon and set anchorage pin. Once the gate is hung it will have to be adjusted to seal at quoin and miter, and the walkway re-installed. As I said, at this point we are still planning to complete repair tomorrow evening. The critical path to complete will be simultaneous completion of the boring (weather may slow) and completion of secondary anchor assembly.
